DERMATOLOGY
THE EPILUMINESCENCE MICROSCOPY

The epiluminescence or reflecting microscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic method which proves useful in the study of pigmented cutaneous lesions and of certain skin cancers.
Technique:
The method consists in the leaning a lens with relative television camera able to produce images 50x on the cutaneous neo formation.
It is preferable to apply on the surface to control before performing the examination a thin inert liquid layer (immersion oil, cedar oil, etc.). This fact allows a better visualization through a transparence effect, in other words it allows to us to observe some neo formation internal characteristics that otherwise it would be possible to examine.
The video signal coming from the television camera is sent to a PC for an images management.
The possibility to compare in "follow-up" will allow to evaluate opportunely some important characters of lesions benignity or malice and so have exact indications on the more suitable therapy to work.
The VMC is a video optical equipment of great handiness and use practicality able to supply high quality images and satisfy the specialist medical immediate requirements.
